About the Play:
Odbhuture is a play in the spooky comedy genre. A house (in an undisclosed location in Bengal) has become haunted as a result of bitter family conflict and repressed anger that passed through the decades producing unresolved feelings, mysteries and entrapment of spirits. Few strangers are spending a weekend in the house, and they have their own agenda to be there. What happens next is the story that unfolds.
Character descriptions:
Deepankar – The murder mystery writer. 40s. Smooth talker, polished, intellectual type. Confident about outsmarting everybody else.
Bishnupriya – The contract killer. 40s. Emotionally detached and little obsessed with closure.
Taraknath- The guy with anger management issue. 40s. Short tempered.
Deepshikha- Taraknath’s wife. Image conscious. Undergoing couple’s therapy. Prim and proper. 40s.
Aditi – The psychologist. She is living abroad and visiting ancestral house. Analytical & Curious type. 30s-40s.
Manab – Gen Z. Age 25s. Runs business on the internet. Usually clueless about surroundings aka real world.
Sunoyona – Spooky tour guide of the house. 40s. Feels entitled to preserve spookiness of the house. Likes to conspire.
Gobordhan- Sunoyona’s assistance. 40s-50s.Simpleton and prone to making mistakes.
Sanghamitra (child) – Daughter of the house. 10s. Should be fluent in Bengali.
Sanghamitra (Adult) – Daughter of the house. 30s. Strong, overpowering personality.
Ranajay- Son of the house.30s. He limps because of an accident when he was 7.
Anupama Debi – Wife of the owner of the house, mother of Sanghamitra and Ranajoy. Sad but determined. Age: 60s
